There’s an easy formula for figuring out how much money you can spend on fresh food each week. First, budget the total amount of money you can spend on all food for the month. Then, add up approximate costs for staples like olive oil, rice, oats and other grains, canned beans, frozen foods, condiments and other convenience foods you need to have on hand. Subtract that amount from the total. Then divide the remainder by 4 to see how much you can spend each week on produce and other fresh foods. Stick as close to your budget as possible.
